Offering new perspectives |

Armstrong wants to give children in Cape Town new hope: With your help we are sponsoring the construction of an orphanage
in 2009 in the township of Langa, a place where children who have lost their parents to Aids will find far more than just
a roof over their heads: a home full of love and devotion, offering the opportunity of a future that is worth living.

Encouraging creativity |

With her buildings Cape Town architect Caren Smuts has for years set a clear signal against poverty and despair. The 2008
Armstrong Charity Project has already helped children living in the South African township of Langa on the outskirts of Cape
Town. Its cultural and local centres offer occupation to street children, schooling for adolescents, and further training
for older participants and the disabled.

10 international architects specialising in social housing and healthcare took up the invitation of AIT and Armstrong, which
asked them to contribute their time and wealth of ideas for the children of Langa in April 2008. At the Guga S´Thebe arts
centre they worked together to create large-format linocuts, using DLW linoleum for their designs.

Showing appreciation |

The striking results will be put together by Armstrong from 2010 in a calendar, available for a nominal fee. In addition,
all artists have donated their work for auctioning – the proceeds of both activities will be channelled back to Langa, where
funds are required for urgent extension work and supervision.
